Angela Bassett

 Angela Evelyn Bassett (born August 16 1958) is an American actress. She is the recipient of numerous accolades that include three Black Reel Awards, a Golden Globe Award, seven NAACP Image Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, along with nominations for one Academy Award and seven Primetime Emmy Awards.Bassett began her acting career in the late 1980s after she graduated from Yale University. Following a few small roles, including in Boyz n the Hood (1991) as Reva Styles in Boyz n the Hood (1991), Bassett had her breakthrough with her portrayal of singer Tina Turner in the biopic What's Love Has to Do with It (1993) that earned her a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Her roles included Betty Shabazz (1992) in Panther (1995), Katherine Jackson (1992), Voletta Wallace (1992), and Coretta Scott King (2013) in Betty & Coretta.
