Kate Garry Hudson, born April 19, 1979 is an American actress. She has won many awards, including the Golden Globe Award, a Critics' Choice Award for a Movie and an Satellite Award, as well as nominations for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.Hudson made her film debut in 1998's drama Desert Blue, which was followed by roles as a supporting actress in 200 Cigarettes (1999), Dr. T & the Women as well as Gossip (both 2000). The role she played as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous (2000) was her most memorable film performance. She also took home an award for her performance in the film, a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Oscar nomination for that category.
