LaMelo Ball

LaMelo LaFrance Ball (born August 22 2001) is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Hornets as the third pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Ball was named the NBA Rookie-of-the-Year in 2021, and also as an NBA All-Star in 2022. He attended Chino Hills High school in Chino Hills, California. He took home the state championship and was a national star in his freshman year along with his brothers Lonzo, and LiAngelo. After his junior season an argument with his coach prompted him to join Prienai, the Lithuanian professional team Prienai. In 2018, he participated in the Junior Basketball Association (JBA), a league created by his father. Then, he returning to high school in the year he was a senior at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. Ball was a five-star recruit who committed to UCLA. However the issue of eligibility made him join the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League (NBL). There he had a meteoric rise. Ball was mocked by scouts the fact that they had feared he would never play in the NBA.
