 Meles Zenawi's net worth: Meles Zenawi was an Ethiopian politician and businessman with a fortune of around $3 billion. Meles Zenawi is the former Premier of Ethiopia. Prior to becoming the premier of his home country, Zenawi was the president Ethiopia during the nineties (from 1991-1995). He was also chairman of Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and also the head of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) in the eighties. Taking the position of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia from 1995 (until his death in August 2012) Zenawi was described as one of Africa's powerful men and introduced a multi- party political system, a private press within the country and decreasing the rate of child mortality. Zenawi also participated in the US War on Terror and helped to eradicate military organizations like Al Qaeda. Additionally, Zenawi was recognized for his efforts towards establishing an enduring relationship with the African Union, playing an important role in improving Africa's position on climate change. However his leadership came under fire, when he was accused of abusing a string of human rights issues , and depriving the right of press/speech.
