Screenshot

A screenshot (also known as screen capture or screen grab) is an image in digital format that displays the content of a display on a computer. A screenshot is created by the operating system or software running on the device powering the display.Additionally, screenshots can be captured by an external camera, using photography to capture contents on the screen. The first screenshots were created with the first interactive computers around 1960.Through the 1980s, computer operating systems did not universally have built-in functionality for capturing screenshots. Text-only screens can sometimes be saved as an image file. However, the screenshots will show only the content of the screen, not the appearance. Screens that display graphics are not able to be saved in this manner. Certain systems included the BSAVE command that could be utilized to take the space in memory in which screen data was saved however this required access to a BASIC prompt. Systems with composite video output were linked to the VCR and the entire screencasts could be were saved this way.Screenshot kits were available for conventional (film) cameras that included an antireflective hood that was long enough to attach between the screen and camera lens, as well as an enlarger lens to the camera. Because of its speedy results and tight-focusing capabilities, Polaroid film was a popular option for taking images.
