  Jordan Ross Belfort (/'belf@rt/ born on 9 July 1962) is a famous American entrepreneur, speaker, author, former stockbroker, and financial criminal. In 1999, he pleaded guilty of fraud and other related charges related to manipulation of the stock market and running a boiler room as part of a penny stock scam. Belfort spent 22 months in prison under an agreement wherein the defendant testified against various partners and subordinates in his fraud scheme. In 2007, he wrote The Wolf of Wall Street and later, it was adapted for a Martin Scorsese movie of the similar title that was released in the year 2013. Leonardo DiCaprio played him in the movie. Belfort received his degree from American University in Biology. Belfort decided to make use of the earnings from Loewenstern to finance dental school, and he enrolled at his first school, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Belfort left the school after the Dean of the school had said at the beginning of his day "The golden age of dentistry is over. You're not in the right location if you're here to earn a lot money. Belfort's wife was his first.
