Denzel Hayes, Jr. was born December 28 in 1954. He is an American actor. The actor has been called an actor who redefined "the concept of classic movie fame". In the course of his career, which spans over four decades, Washington has received numerous awards which include a Tony Award, two Academy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards and two Silver Bears. He was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, and in 2020, The New York Times named him the top actor of the 21st Century. In 1979, Washington began his acting career in the theater. Washington's first fame came in the medical drama St. Elsewhere (1982-1988). Washington's early film roles included Norman Jewison's A Soldier's Story (1984) and Richard Attenborough's Cry Freedom (1987). He was best known for his character as Private Silas Trip in the Civil War drama Glory (1989),
