Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg (born on June 5 1971) Former stage name Marky Mark is an American actor as well as a businessman and former rapper. Wahlberg has been awarded multiple awards including an award from the BAFTA Award and nominations for three Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and nine Primetime Emmy Awards. He was born in Boston in 1971. In the 90s, Wahlberg was a member of the music group Marky Mark as well as the Funky Bunch, with whom released the albums Music for the People (1991) and You Gotta Believe (1992). Wahlberg made his film debut in Renaissance Man (1994) and was the first actor to be a star in Fear (1996). His performance as Dirk Diggler, a porn actor in Boogie Nights (1997) was praised by reviewers. He then ventured into action movies like The Perfect Storm (2001), Planet of the Apes (2002) as well as The Italian Job (2003-2004). He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as a police officer in the crime drama The Departed (2006).
